A Kantha blanket - I'm giving it to myself.

We love them, the Kantha blankets, because they tell a wonderful story of craftsmanship, tradition and upcycling in its most beautiful form.

Kantha blankets are traditionally made in rural areas of West Bengal. Several layers of recycled fabrics, such as used saris, are sewn together with a special embroidery stitch called "Kantha". "Kantha" comes from the Bengali language and means quilted or stitched. The art of "Kantha" embroidery is passed down from generation to generation and is an important part of the cultural tradition in the Indian community. Due to the density of the weave of the various layers of quilted fabric, the kanthas can be used as blankets, bedspreads, picnic blankets or wall hangings.

We have selected the most beautiful unique vintage pieces for you. They are cleaned and checked by us, small holes and stains are mended and decorated by our lady hand embroiderers with great dedication. It is the traces of time that make these blankets something very special.
